The objective of the course is to introduce students to Spanish legal concepts and the technical language used in the civil law tradition in Latin America. The course focuses on Argentine law. The course aims to improve students` oral and written communication skills. The course also aims to familiarize students with some of the most important issues that can arise in the practice of law in relations with Latin America. Thus, the cultural, historical and political characteristics of the region are discussed in order to provide students with better tools as mediators of human international relations between English and Spanish speakers in the context of transnational legal transactions. The overall objective of the course is to enrich the opportunities that Spanish as a second language can bring to the profession.
