Law Access seeks to help people who benefit most from legal aid, who cannot afford private lawyers, or who get help from other places (such as Legal Aid WA or CLC). There are eligibility criteria to determine if the legal issue qualifies for support, as well as a means test. We do not allow children between the ages of 2 and 17 to seek legal advice in family matters. Similarly, we cannot supervise your children during an appointment. We can make an exception, but you must contact us prior to the appointment to discuss arrangements. Centre of Expertise – provides legal services to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander victims, survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault or whose partners or children are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. However, there is no guarantee that they will have the capacity. This long-term collaboration enhances professional practice, community capacity building and contributes greatly to building a reputation for academic outreach with a high impact on the community. Please note that the Agency does not conduct ongoing processing in cases that have no legal value. Please note that the CCLSWA must speak directly to the person involved in the legal case when providing legal advice. The CCLSWA provides minor assistance and legal representation to borrowers and consumers (not lenders, suppliers or manufacturers) in the above areas. Most CLCs focus on specific client groups, legal issues, or geographic areas. Priority is often given to people who are disadvantaged or have special needs. CLCs offer different levels of service, ranging from basic legal advice and support to ongoing representation. We do not charge for legal advice, but there is a flat appointment fee of $30 for all on-site and virtual appointments. This fee must be paid once your appointment is confirmed and you will receive payment instructions. If you have an appointment on site, you can pay the same day just before your appointment.

Community Law Centres (CLCs) are community-based, not-for-profit organizations that provide legal and support services to the public. There are 28 CLCs in urban and regional areas in Western Australia. Studied as an elective unit, Community Legal Practice (LAW3602), students complete a work placement at the Centre and gain first-hand many of the skills required for responsible and successful practice of law. Under the supervision of qualified lawyers, students will assist in the provision of legal services, enabling students to apply much of the theoretical knowledge acquired in other legal entities. Students will also learn the practical and ethical aspects of legal advice, including managing client expectations and confidentiality, and will be encouraged to reflect on the relevance of the law in a social context. VPPS provides information, legal advice, referrals, case representation, advisory or support services. Her legal services include injunctions, child protection, compensation for criminal offences caused by domestic violence or sexual assault, child support and family law matters.
