You are a motivated and motivated self-taught person who can work collaboratively and independently when needed. You have great attention to detail, are well organized and can prioritize tasks. You`ll also be part of a network of volunteers, with the opportunity to connect with other practitioners in the local, housing and non-profit legal sectors. The main objective of the role is to provide the legal team with quality paralegal and administrative support, including assistance with case processing, preparation of legal documents and letters, correspondence with clients, referrals, preparation of summaries, participation in VCAT hearings and more. When you volunteer with us, you`ll be working closely with our passionate and experienced team of lawyers, housing advocates and business service providers. The Centre for the Advancement of Women (COAW) is looking for a dedicated volunteer to interview women who visit our organization and write detailed cases of their stories and flag other services they will need from our organization in the future. The case often focuses on domestic violence, mental health and litigation. Tenants Victoria`s legal department helps tenants living in private, public and community housing, as well as homes and caravan park housing, to obtain fair, safe and dignified housing.

We offer telephone advice for lease law, email advice, negotiation support, representation and advocacy. We offer local lawyers and other professional volunteers the opportunity to put their skills and expertise to work for the community. Each volunteer counsels a maximum of 3 clients per clinic, receives guidance for advice and instructions on appropriate referrals, and all clinics are supervised by a senior lawyer who is available for consultations when needed. Volunteers have supported Women`s Legal Service Victoria (WLSV) since 1981. We are committed to supporting volunteerism in order to expand and improve our services and provide meaningful work to women in the legal and related fields. The LGBTIQ Legal Service appreciates the support of volunteer law students, alumni and experienced lawyers. Our volunteers help with paralegals, legal research, law reform filings and our major community events such as Midsumma and Law Week.
